After meeting up with our friends the Hurrell's on Thursday evening for a meal we were looking forward for a sail on Friday but to forecast was for only light winds :(
So after a social Fri. morning took the gear to the Dip for an afternoon sail hoping a sea breeze might appear.
When I got to the sea Neil Hurrell was already out on his longboard with Roger Vickers !!! So we decided to form 'The Felixstowe Old Guys Longboard Cruising Club' (anyone welcome to join - just get yourself a longboard and double your sailing time !!!! ) and we set off up the River Deben at 2 in the afternoon in winds just strong enough for a kiter to get going. With the wind in the south it was a dead run all the way :( after stopping at Ramsholt for a drink stop but not at the pub !!! we decided to continue all the way to Waldringfield as the tide was perfect with high at 4.After another break at the Maybush again no alcohole involved !!! and with the wind increasing we had great fun beating back in the sunshine up on the rail in and out of the moored boats and surrounded by every king of bird :) Neil was the first back to Bawdsey where we stopped to regroup then finished the two and a half trip through the fast current of the river mouth to met up with Linda H and Mag for a tea and to back up quikly as we were off for a meal with friends Peter and Sally before they set off to thier cottage in Tiree :)
So although the wind was fairly light we had should a great sail and everyone should get a longboard :)
